SMSU Finishes Third at Buffalo Ridge Invite

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.: Carly Roach of Augustana College shot a final round 6-over par 77 and went on to earn medalist honors at the three-team Buffalo Ridge Invite held in Marshall and Sioux Falls this weekend.

 

Roach, who held a six-shot lead after Saturday’s opening round at Marshall Golf Club, carded the only two sub-80 rounds of the tournament to win the individual title.  Sunday’s final round was played at Bakker Crossing in Sioux Falls, S.D.

 

Roach’s score, along with teammates Courtney Belanger and Kaari Espeland, who finished in a three-way tie for second place with scores of 16-over 159, helped lead Augustana to the team title with a score of 636.  Concordia-St. Paul finished in second place with a score of 656, followed by Southwest Minnesota State at 671.

 

Laura Shelander carded the lowest round on Sunday with a 4-over 75, while SMSU junior Abby Oakland finished with the second lowest score in the final round with a 5-over 76.

 

Oakland finished in fifth place for SMSU with a two-day score of 17-over 160.  Freshman teammate Sarah Peterson finished in ninth place with a 24-over 164.

 

Freshman Sarah Baukol finished in a tie for 13th place with a 170, while sophomore Melissa Lackas ended in 16th with a 174.  Rounding out the SMSU team scoring was freshman Rachael Stoebe, with a 190.  Freshmen Stephanie Bruns and Stephanie Myers played as individuals and carded a 198 and 200 respectively.
