Abby Oakland has been named to the 2008-09 All-American Scholar Team.
It's the fourth straight year Oakland has been named to the All-American Scholar Team.
A total of 410 women's collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection is one of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Oakland, a native of Fulda, Minn., finished third on the Mustang squad this season with an 85.8 stroke average in 20 rounds. Oakland finished the season with four top-20 finishes and one top-10 finish in nine tournaments.
Oakland finished her four-year career with an 86.3 stroke average in 81 career rounds ranking fifth in school history.
Southwest Minnesota State qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament this spring and finished seventh in the nine-team tournament.
