GOLDEN, Colo. – Southwest Minnesota State University senior outfielder
Christine Borowiak has been named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Softball second team. The announcement was made by the Central Region committee on Tuesday.
Borowiak, a native of Omaha, Neb., finished the season leading the team with a .386 batting average, 54 hits, 12 doubles, three triples, three home runs and 13 stolen bases while finishing the season with 17 RBI. She also led the team with a .579 slugging percentage and a .435 on base percentage.
Borowiak, a first team All-NSIC selection in 2012, finished her career at SMSU ranked third all-time with 35 doubles and is one of four players in school history to hit 20 or more home runs in a career. She ranks fourth all-time with 199 career hits and fifth with 32 career stolen bases.
Winona State's Molly Link and Stacey Struzynski received top honors as Link was named player of the year and Struzynski earned pitcher of the year honors.
SMSU finished its season 21-21 overall, 12-14 in the NSIC, which was good for a ninth-place finish in the final league standings.
