On Friday, SMSU will compete in the 10-team, 18-hole Cobber Open starting at 12 p.m.  Joining SMSU in the tournament include North Dakota State, Bethel, Concordia-Moorhead, Augsburg, St. Benedict's, Minnesota Crookston, Minnesota Morris and the University of Manitoba.

On Saturday and Sunday, SMSU will play in the 36-hole Cobber Invite beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start. MARSHALL, Minn. - Minnesota State shot a team score of 320 and edged Southwest Minnesota State by six strokes in a dual match held Sunday at the Marshall Golf Club in Marshall.

MSU's Lisa Moline fired an even-par 72 to take medalist honors, while teammate Alyssa Kaltoff, playing as an individaul, finished second with a seven-over 79.  

SMSU was led by Krista Weiszhaar, who carded an eight-over 80, to finish in a tie for third place.  Freshman Marissa Campeau, playing as an individual, along with fellow freshman Rachel Patnoe tied for fifth with a nine-over 81 for the Mustangs.

SMSU will continue play next Friday, Sept. 10, at the 18-hole Cobber Open at Wildflower G.C. in Detroit Lakes, Minn. NEW ULM, Minn. - Minnesota State's Kathleen Ritter fired an eight-over-par 79 to earn medalist honors and lead the Mavericks to the team title in the three-team Maverick Round-Up at New Ulm Country Club in New Ulm.

MSU shot a team score of 332, while Concordia-St. Paul finished second with a 336 and SMSU rounded out the tournament with a 344.

KC Kane led SMSU with an 11-over 82 and finished in a tie for fourth place.  Rachel Patnoe shot a 14-over 85 to finish in a tie for sixth place in her first collegiate action.

SMSU will face Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State, Mankato in a triangular on Saturday at the New Ulm Country Club starting at 12 p.m., before completing the weekend with a dual versus Minnesota State at the Marshall Golf Club starting at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Seventh-year head coach Ross Webskowski welcomes 10 athletes for this upcoming season, including six returning letterwinners. 

SMSU will be looking to make its third straight NCAA regional appearance and its eighth in school history.

The Mustangs open the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 with the Maverick Round-Up at the New Ulm Country Club. A total of 494 women&rsquo;s collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor.  The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Athlete Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. PAUL, Minn. -  The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced its All-Academic teams for the 2010 spring athletic season, and 17 Southwest Minnesota State athletes are among this season&rsquo;s honorees. 

To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. Furthermore, the athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her or his institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.

For SMSU, six student-athletes from baseball, five from softball, and three each from women's tennis and women's golf were named to this year&rsquo;s team.

LAKE CITY, Minn. &ndash; Southwest Minnesota State recorded a final round 335 and finished seventh with a 54-hole total of 1,002, at the NCAA Super Region Three Championships at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.

Augustana won the title with a score of 972.  Western New Mexico (979) and Minnesota State (984) finished second and third respectively and will join Augustana at the NCAA Championships May 12-15, at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.

Jill Preeshl of Upper Iowa won the individual championship with a 17-over-par 233.

Augustana leads the championship with a two-round score of 643, 12 strokes ahead of Western New Mexico (655) and 14 strokes ahead of Minnesota State (657).
