MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State head women’s basketball coach Mike Jewett has announced his team’s schedule for the 2009-10 season. The 27-game slate includes 14 home games, seven non-conference dates and a two-game outing to Omaha, Neb.
The Mustangs will open regular season play on Nov. 20 and 21 when they host Truman State (Mo.) and Hillsdale (Mich.) as part of the SMSU Classic. A two-game trip to Omaha, Neb., follows, with SMSU meeting up with Chadron State (Neb.) on Nov. 27 and Oklahoma Panhandle State on Nov. 28.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The National Golf Coaches Association announced on Wednesday that Southwest Minnesota State University senior Abby Oakland has been named to the 2008-09 All-American Scholar Team.
It’s the fourth straight year Oakland has been named to the All-American Scholar Team.
A total of 410 women’s collegiate golfers from NCAA Division I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection is one of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
