Casey Carlo completed his first season as defensive line coach in 2009.

Carlo came to SMSU after spending four seasons at Upper Iowa University, including the last two seasons as the team's defensive coordinator.  He also served as the team's defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coach.

He began his coaching career in 1996 at Northern University High School in Ceder Falls, Iowa, before spending three years as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Northern Iowa from 2000-03.  He spent the 2004 season at Urbandale High School in Urbandale, Iowa, before moving to UIU.

Carlo, who played football at both Waldorf College and Northern Iowa, earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and is pursuing his master's degree from SMSU.
