MARSHALL, Minn. - The Brown team jumped to an early three-run lead and never looked back in earning a 7-4 victory over the Gold squad in game three of the SMSU Brown and Gold World Series played at Alumni Field on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Brown team won the series 3-0 to claim the title and conclude fall practice.
Sophomore
Josh Wendland continued his torrid fall season finishing with three hits including a double, while junior
Andy Williamson added two hits and two RBI. Senior
Matt Bauer and redshirt freshman
Chris Eichten each had one hit in the game as well.
Junior
Curtis Smith earned the victory on the mound allowing one run and one hit in three innings of work while striking out four batters.
The Gold team was paced by senior
Derick Swenson, who finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Senior
Andrew Kinney added two hits, including a home run, while driving in three runs.
The SMSU baseball team will continue preparations for the 2010 season in January.
