Mustangs Prepare for NSIC Championships

MARSHALL, Minn. -  The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team concludes its 2009 fall season this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11 at the 11-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship at Hillcrest Golf Club in St. Paul. 

The first two rounds of the 54-hole conference championship takes place this weekend and will conclude with the final two rounds April 24-25 in Brandon, S.D.

First round play begins on Saturday afternoon starting at 12 p.m., while second round play begins on Sunday morning with a 10:15 shotgun start.

The tournament field includes: Augustana, Bemidji State, Concordia, Minnesota, Crookston, Minnesota State Mankato, MSU Moorhead, St. Cloud State, Southwest Minnesota State, Upper Iowa, Wayne State and Winona State.

SMSU’s five-person line-up will consist of sophomore KC Kane (Buffalo, Minn.), senior Melissa Lackas (Independence, Iowa), junior Sarah Baukol (Detroit Lakes, Minn.), freshman Krista Weiszhaar (Harwood, N.D.) and junior Stephanie Bruns (Champlin, Minn.).

SMSU has won six NSIC?titles in the program’s in the 13-year history with the last championship in 2005.
