BROOKINGS, S.D. - Southwest Minnesota State improved by eight strokes from Thursday's opening round but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs finished fifth at the five-team Augustana Invite played at Prairie Green G.C. in Sioux Falls on Thursday and Brookings C.C. in Brookings, S.D. on Friday.
SMSU recorded a team score of 338 on Friday with freshman
KC Kane leading the team with a 10-over par 82. Kane finished the two-round tournament with a 17-over 161 and finished tied for 10th. Junior
Melissa Lackas carded an 85 on Friday and finished tied for 20th with a 27-over 171. Senior
Abby Oakland finished tied for 22nd with a 28-over 172 after recording an 11-over 83 on Friday.
Sophomore
Stephanie Bruns (96) and sophomore
Sarah Baukol (88) rounded out the SMSU team scoring on Friday. Bruns finished tied for 28th in the tournament with a 43-over 187, while Baukol finished 30th with a 47-over 191.
Sophomore
Rachael Stoebe played as an individual in the tournament and finished 27th at 42-over 186. Stoebe shot a round of 95 on Friday.
SMSU will be in action next Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, when it competes at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships at Sundance G.C. in Buckeye, Ariz.
