SMSU, Augsburg Finish in 1-1 Tie

Box Score

MARSHALL, Minn.
- Division III Augsburg scored in the 76th minute to rally from a 1-0 deficit and tie Southwest Minnesota State 1-1 Wednesday night in exhibition action at the Regional Event Center.

Both teams entered the second half stalemated at 0-0, but it was SMSU's Kate Voigt who snapped the drought in the 56th minute of play, lobbing a ball just over AC goalkeeper Diana Bocklund from a healthy distance to give the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage.

Augsburg snuck one past Mustang goalkeeper Kendra Olchefske 20 minutes later for a decisive 1-1 tie.  Olchefske finished with six saves on the night.

SMSU's offense was solid throughout as the Mustangs had 20 shot attempts and 13 shots on goal.  Tatum Borstad led SMSU with four shots on goal.

SMSU allowed just seven shots on goal in the tie.

The Mustangs open regular season play on Sunday in a non-conference tilt at St. Cloud State.
