MARSHALL, Minn. - The Brown team rallied with three runs in the top of the ninth inning to earn an 8-7 victory over the Gold team in game two of the annual Brown and Gold World Series on Tuesday at Alumni Field. The Brown team holds a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Brown trailed 7-4 after seven innings but plated a single run in the eighth before putting together the winning rally in the ninth.
The Brown team was led on offense by senior
Matt Bauer who finished 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three runs scored. Sophomore
Josh Wendland, junior
Andy Williamson and redshirt freshman
Brian Ness all collected two hits apiece.
Sophomore reliever
Nate Dickhausen picked up the victory in relief tossing 2.2 innings allowing just one hit while striking out three.
The Gold team collected 13 hits with sophomore
Adam Thygesen, junior Tyler Jendro, senior Bobby Zellman and freshman Riley Decker also finishing with two hits apiece. Redshirt freshman
Tyler Flattum belted a three-run home run, while senior
Andrew Kinney scored three runs.
Game three of the series will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3, starting a 1 p.m.
