ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Thursday that Southwest Minnesota State University junior forward
Scott Roehl has been named second team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference as selected by the league's head coaches.
Roehl, a 6-foot-7, 227-pound, native of Princeton, Minn., leads SMSU in both scoring (13.7) and rebounding this season and is shooting 50 percent (137 of 274) from the field and 64.7 percent (55 of 85) from the free throw line. Roehl leads the squad with 19 double figure-scoring games, is the team leader with four 20-point games and also is the team's leader with six double-doubles.
In 20 conference games this season, he finished third in the league in rebounding (8.3) and 18th in scoring (12.7).
SMSU is 16-11 overall on the season and will continue play in the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 6. SMSU, the tournament's No. 8 seed, will face No. 4 seed Winona State in the semifinals starting at 4 p.m. at St. Cloud State's Halenbeck Hall. The Mustangs opened the tournament on Wednesday night defeating No. 1 seed Minnesota State 80-78 in Mankato.
