COMPLETE RELEASE
SEASON WRAP-UP: The Southwest Minnesota State University baseball team finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 29-18 and finished tied for fourth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 22-10 record. SMSU qualifed for the NSIC tournament in St. Cloud as the No. 5 seed. The Mustangs opened with an 8-6 loss to No. 2 seed Winona State, but SMSU reeled off three straight victories over Wayne State, St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth to advance to the championship game, but falling to Minnesota State 6-5.
SMSU IN THE NSIC TOURNAMENT AGAIN: Southwest Minnesota State is the only program in conference history to qualify for all 15 NSIC tournaments since its inception in 1996. The Mustangs have won the tournament championship four times (1996, 1997, 1999 and 2002) and has finished second three times (1998, 2005 and 2010).
FIFTH MOST VICTORIES: SMSU finished the season with 29 victories, the fifth highest total in school history. The school record is 33 set by the 1998 team.
