SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Former Southwest Minnesota State University right-handed pitcher
Adam Schrader tossed six strong innings, allowing just one unearned run, while striking out two and walking one to earn the victory in his first start for the Lake Elsinore Storm of the Class A California League on Wednesday night. The Storm defeated the Island Empire 66ers 12-2.
Schrader, making his first appearance since being promoted from the Arizona Rookie League, allowed just five hits in the game and is now 5-0 overall this summer.
One of the highlights for Schrader on Wednesday night came in the fifth inning when the native of Easton, Minn., struck out Major League Baseball star Manny Ramirez. Ramirez began a rehabilitation assignment for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
Schrader was selected in the 39th round of the MLB draft his past June by the San Diego Padres.
