LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Southwest Minnesota State University junior
Krista Weiszhaar shot a 15-over-par 87, in the opening round of the 72-hole NCAA Division II National Championships held at the par 72, 6,283-yard Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
Weiszhaar finished the first round tied for 47th place in the 70-person field. Abbey Gittings from Nova Southeastern (Fla.) is the individual leader with an even-par 72.
A native of Harwood, N.D., Weiszhaar finished the round with one birdie, six pars, six bogeys and five double bogeys.
Weiszhaar will begin round two on Thursday morning at 9:20 CDT. She is the third individual in program history and the first since 2004, to compete at the NCAA Championships.
