LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Southwest Minnesota State University junior
Krista Weiszhaar shot a 12-over-par 84, in the third round of the NCAA Division II National Championships and is tied for 55th place overall in the 70-person field with a 40-over 256.
The round of 84 is Weiszhaar's lowest in the championship. She will conclude the four-round, 72-hole championship tomorrow morning at 7:40 CDT.
The championship is being held at the 6,283-yard, par 72, Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
Daniela Ortiz from Nova Southeastern is the individual leader with at 7-over 223, one shot better than teammate Abbey Gittings. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) is the team leader at 65-over 929, nine shots ahead of Florida Southern.
Weiszhaar started her round on Friday on the back nine and was one-over through eight holes, but a triple bogey on the par-5 18th, closed her first nine holes at four-over. She finished today's round with one birdie, eight pars, seven bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey.
Weiszhaar, who shot an 87 in the first round on Wednesday and an 85 in round two yesterday, started today's third round in 52nd place.
For the championship, she has two birdies, 22 pars, 21 bogeys, seven double bogeys and two triple bogeys.
Weiszhaar is the third individual in SMSU history and the first since 2004, to compete at the NCAA Championships.
