MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State University senior golfer KC Kane has been named to the 11-member Capital One Academic All-District VII At-Large first team, announced by the College Sports Information of Directors of America on Thursday.

District VII consists of schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The At-Large team consists of student-athletes that compete in golf, lacrosse, tennis, swimming and gymnastics.

Kane will now advance to the Capital One Academic All-America team ballot, where first, second and third team All-Academic honorees will be selected in June.  Nominations and voting for the Academic All-America® programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Kane, a native of Buffalo, Minn., carries a 3.41 GPA in mathematics.  This season she led SMSU with an 82.0 stroke average in 23 rounds, with six top 10 and four top 5 finishes.  Earlier this week, Kane was named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for the fourth straight season, becoming the third Mustang in school history to earn first team all-conference honors four times in a career. 

Kane finished her career as the program's all-time leader in stroke average at 81.1 in 82 rounds and played in four straight NCAA tournaments.  In 2009-10, she set the school single-season record with a 79.6 stroke average.

To be nominated for all-district honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
