LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Southwest Minnesota State University junior
Krista Weiszhaar shot a final round 11-over-par 83, her best round of the week, to finish in a tie for 54th place at 72-hole NCAA Division II National Championships held at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
Weiszhaar finished the championship with a 51-over 339. She shot an 87 in the first round on Wednesday, an 85 on Thursday and an 84 on Friday.
Abbey Gittings from Nova Southeastern won the individual national championship at 10-over 298, two shots ahead of Meghan Moore of North Carolina-Pembroke. Nova Southeastern (Fla.) won the team championship.
Weiszhaar started today's final round on the back nine and had three pars, five bogeys and one double bogey, before closing the final nine holes with one birdie, three pars and five bogeys. She finished the championship with three birdies, 28 pars, 31 bogeys, eight double bogeys and two triple bogeys.
Weiszhaar was the third individual in SMSU history and the first since 2004, to compete at the NCAA Championships.
