MINNEAPOLIS - Southwest Minnesota State's Hannah Palmeter finished high for the third consecutive race this season crossing the line in fifth place at the Roy Griak Invite held at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
Both SMSU cross country teams competed on Saturday with the women's team finishing 26th out of 35 teams, while the men's team placed 25th out of 30 teams.
Palmeter, this week's NSIC Cross Country Athlete of the Week, finished with a time of 22:39.5 and helped SMSU finish 26th out of 35 teams with 731 points. Minnesota Duluth won the team title with 83 points. The 6,000-meter race featured more than 350 runners.
Kristen Weber had the second lowest time for SMSU at 26:56 to finish in 167th place. Amanda Grengs was 179th at 27:19, while McKenzie Besel finished 188th with a time of 27:38. Tatum Larson crossed the line at 27:44 to finish 193rd, while Jen Keohen placed 209th with a time of 28:18.
On the men's side,
Evan Bonneson was the highest finisher for SMSU placing 71st out of more than 400 runners with a time of 27:55.
Chandler Lokanin finished in 28:41 to place 121st, with teammate
Ben Broze running at 29:10 to finish in 153rd.
Kelly Fitzsimmons crossed the line at 29:49 to finish 183,
Alex Solheim was 195th with a time of 30:14, while
Chris Kveseth was 225th with a finishing time of 31:37.
Southwest Minnesota State returns to action on Oct. 9 at the St. Cloud State Invite.
