SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. - Hannah Palmeter turned in a time of 22:29 good for a second place finish at the Bob Waxlax Invitational at Wapicada Golf Course on Friday. The women finished 5th out of seven teams with finishes of 2-12-28-32-36 (110) and a total time of 2:01:12. The team turned in an average of 24:15 on the 6K (3.73 miles) course.
Palmeter ran at an average mile pace of 6:01 and finished 41 seconds behind St. Cloud State's Samantha Sunstrom's time of 21:48 that won the event.
Winona State carded a score of 31 to take the team title. The Warriors recorded the third, fourth and fifth place finishers.
On the men's side, WSU's Seth Reel ran a blistering pace of 5:08 per mile to take the men's race with a time of 25:31. WSU recorded the first, third and fifth finishers but it wasn't enough to take the team title as all five of Minnesota State's finishers in the top 10.
SMSU was led by
Blake Wooten's 14th place finish in a time of 27:23. SMSU finished with a team score of 121 (14-21-26-27-33) and finished five of five teams.
The men and women will ready for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Oct. 22. Start time is TBA.
