BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's indoor track & field had its final tune-up prior to next weekend's NSIC Championships, competing today at the South Dakota State Last Chance Meet at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Complex.
The SMSU men's team broke three school records during the meet.
Chris Kveseth broke the school mark in the 400m with a time of 50.32 to win his heat and finish fifth out of 20 overall.
Dallin Finley also broke a school record, recording a time of 22.49 to place fifth out of 18 in the 200m.
Evan Bonneson finished sixth in the 3,000m with a record-breaking time of 9:05.
Alex Weis won the shot put with a toss of 15.01m and also placed third in the weight throw at 17.05m.
On the women's side, four records were set, with
Holly DuHoux recording a 14.45m toss in the weight throw, to finish fifth. Teammate
Rhiannon Sears also had a toss that beat the previous school mark, placing ninth at 13.94m.
Ellen Padmore ran a 28.85 in the 200m to finish second out of 17 runners, while
Eisha Oden placed third out of 13 in the 400m with a time of 58.99.
Sarah Mayfield finished in the fifth place in the 400m crossing the line at 59.76.
Kim Shabino and Padmore both advanced to the finals of 60m, with Shabino placing third with a school record 7.91, while Padmore finished fifth with a time of 7.92.
Macy Violett also put her name in the record book with a time of 1:41.61 in the 600m to finish sixth.
Savannah Ramirez also set a school mark in the 3,000m, recording a time of 11:18.18.
Both SMSU teams will next compete next Friday and Saturday at the NSIC Championships in Mankato, Minn.
