MANKATO, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University men's indoor track & field team had a pair of All-NSIC performances on Saturday to help finish ninth at the NSIC Championships on the campus of Minnesota State. The SMSU men's team finished with 26 points, while the SMSU women's team earned 14 points to finish in 10th place.

Minnesota State captured the men's team championship with 140.5 points, ahead of second place Augustana's 131.5 Minnesota State also won the women's team title with 140.5 points, while Augustana was second with 131.5.

Will Hanson earned All-NSIC honors by placing third in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the line at 8.11, to help the men's team earn six points.

Alex Weis also picked up six team points and earned All-NSIC accolades by finishing third in the shot put with a school record toss of 15.82.

Raphael Lawson-Gayle finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.92 to earn three team points.

Also scoring a pair of points for SMSU was Chris Kveseth, who finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.03.

SMSU's 4x400 relay team of Matt Konrad, Zach Jones, Dallin Finley and Chris Kveseth closed the day with a sixth place finish with a time of 3:26.07 to garner three points.

For the women's team, Hannah Palmeter broke the school record in the 1-mile with a time of 5:05.58 to finish sixth and earn SMSU three points.

Eisha Oden recorded a fourth place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 58.49 to earn five team points, while Kim Shabino finished in eighth place in the 200 meters with a time of 25.59 to earn one team point.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan. SMSU has several individuals with qualifying times and will now await word if they advance to nationals.
