ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Hannah Palmeter won the 5,000 meters, while
Alex Weis won the hammer throw to lead the Southwest Minnesota State University track & field teams today in day one of the Northwestern College Open.
Palmeter won the race with a time of 18:15.42, more than 11 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Weis captured first place honors with a toss of 55.31m, finishing ahead of teammate
Jordan Flinn, who recorded a throw of 51.86m.
Rylee Armstrong earned a fifth place finish in the javelin with a toss of 33.72m, while
Jessie Janisch placed ninth out of 22 in the hammer throw with a distance of 42.39m.
The second day of the meet begins on Saturday at 9 a.m.
