MINNEAPOLIS – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's cross country teams returned to action today at the Roy Griak Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota at Les Bolstad Golf Course.
The SMSU women's team placed 29
th out of 40 teams with a total of 886 points. U-Mary won the team title with 93 points, while U-Mary's Alexis Zeis—the 2015 NCAA national champion—won the individual title with a time of 22:10.
Hannah Palmeter was SMSU's highest finisher placing 82
nd out of nearly 400 runners with a time of 25:05.
Kayla Jansky finished 180
th with a time of 26:48, while
Savannah Ramirez crossed the line at 27:10 to place 191
st.
The SMSU men's team recorded a 34
th place finish out of 40 with 984 points.
Blake Wooten crossed the finish line in 144
th place with a time of 28:50.
Ben Broze placed 192
nd with a time of 29:22, with teammate
Kelly Fitzsimmons running 29:32 to finish 203
rd.
Both SMSU teams return to competition on Friday, Oct. 7, at the St. Cloud State Bob Waxlax Invite at Wapicada Golf Course.
