MANKATO, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University indoor track & field teams competed for the first time in 2017 earlier today at the Minnesota State Alumni Open held at the Myers Fieldhouse.
Bashir Aidrus placed fifth out of 17 in the 1-mile with a time of 4:33.46 and also finished fourth in the 3,000 meter at 9:08.60.
Ben Ryan had a strong showing in the 200 meters crossing the line at 23.10 to finish sixth out of 23, while
Zach Jones (23.33) and
Matt Konrad (23.37) placed eighth and ninth respectively.
In the weight throw,
Jordan Flinn finished second with a mark of 16.93m.
On the women's side,
Angela Prokosch earned a second place finish in the weight throw with a toss 14.42m.
SMSU returns to action next Saturday at the University of Minnesota Open.
