MANKATO, Minn. - The Southwest Minnesota State University men's indoor track & field teams wrapped up the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Saturday with four Mustang men earning All-NSIC honors during the two-day event held at Myers Fieldhouse.

The SMSU men's team had one All-NSIC performance on Friday and added three more on Saturday to finish tied for seventh at the championship with a total of 45 points. It is the highest finish and highest point total for SMSU since reinstating the program in 2014. The four All-NSIC honorees is the highest total for a championship in program history.

The SMSU women's team earned 10.5 points to finish in 12th place.

Minnesota State captured the men's team championship with 183.5 points, ahead of second place Sioux Falls' 154. Minnesota State also won the women's team title with 171 points, while U-Mary was second with 103.

On Saturday, SMSU's
Alex Weis and
Josh Behning finished second and third respectively in the shot put to earn All-NSIC accolades. Weis recorded a toss of 16.08, his third best mark of the season, while Behning finished at 15.30m.

Austin LaFollette also earned All-NSIC honors with a third place finish in the 600 meters, crossing the line at 1:22.61.

SMSU's 4x400 relay team of
Matt Konrad,
Austin LaFollette,
Zach Jones and
Chris Kveseth just missed All-NSIC honors, by placing fourth with a time of 3:23.43 and earning five team points.

Zach Jones shattered his own school record in the 400 meters to finish fifth with a time of 49.60, breaking the previous record of 50.25.

In the 60 meters, the Mustangs'
Quadri Busari and
Gabe Galamue placed seventh and eight respectively at 7.06 and 7.09 to earn SMSU team points.

Chris Kveseth picked up a team point for SMSU with an eighth place finish in the 800 meters at 1:58.85.

Bashir Aidrus ran a school record 15:44.26 in the 5,000 meters—just missing cracking the top 20.

Jordan Flinn earned All-NSIC accolades on Friday, with a second place finish in the weight throw at 17.61m. Weis finished in eighth place with a toss of 16.83m.

The SMSU men's distance medley of

Austin LaFollette,
Chris Kveseth and
Bashir Aidrus on Friday placed sixth with a time of 10:37.91.

For the women's team,
Eisha Oden ran 58.25 in the 400 meters to place fourth and earn five team points on Saturday.

Kim Shabino broke the school record she set in Friday's prelims, running 25.16 in the 200 meters to finish sixth and picking up three points for the team. Â

During Friday's competition,
Rylee Armstrong earned a sixth place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.6m.

Nikki Atwood also set a school record in the 600m on Friday with a time of 1:41.29, but just missed advancing to the finals on Saturday. Â
