LINCOLN, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's indoor track & field team had 10 individuals compete on Friday and Saturday at the Frank
Sevigne Husker Invitational on the campus of the University of Nebraska.
On Friday,
Zach Jones won his heat in the
400m with a school record time of 50.25. In the long jump, Jones recorded a mark of 6.40m.
In the weight throw, Jordan
Flinn placed 18
th with a mark of 17.09m, while
Alex Weis was 27
th with a toss of 15.49m.
In the 60m,
Quadri Busari ran a time of 7.04, while
Ben Ryan crossed the finish line at 7.16.
For the SMSU women on Friday,
Kim Shabino ran a season-best 7.92 in the 60m, while
Rylee Armstrong finished with a 5.26m mark in the long jump to place 19
th out of 27 athletes.
On Saturday, Shabino ran a school record 25.5 in the 200m.
Other highlights on Saturday included
Austin LaFollette placing second in his heat in the 600m with a time of 1:23.52, while Ryan just missed a school record in the 200m with a time of 22.53.
The Southwest Minnesota State track squads continue action on Saturday, Feb. 11, competing at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings.
