ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's and men's track & field teams recorded several high place-winners, including five champions, competing at the Northern State Twilight on Thursday at Swisher Field.
Josh Behning led the field events for the Mustangs men's team, winning the discus with a toss of 47.77m. He also earned a third place finish in the shot put with a toss of 14.21m.
Alex Weis placed second in the shot put at 14.79m, while picking up a third place mark of 53.78m in the hammer.
Sprinter
Dallin Finley took home first place honors with a time of 10.84 in the 100 meters, while teammate
Austin LaFollette captured first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.36.
SMSU's 4x100 relay team of
Quadri Busari,
Gabe Galamue, Finley and
Ben Ryan recorded a first place time of 42.0 to win by nearly a full second.
Zach Jones crossed the finish line in second place in the 400m with a time of 50.76.
Kim Shabino cruised in the 100 meters with winning time of 12.16 to pace the SMSU women's team.
Samantha McNeel ran a personal best 16.24 to finish third in the 100 meter hurdles, while Sarah Mayfield finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 59.87.
Holly DuHoux put together a personal best toss of 39.01m in the discus to earn a second place finish with teammate Angela Prokosch throwing the hammer, 43.88m to finish in third place.
Southwest Minnesota State will have this weekend off before returning to the track on April 22 at the Concordia-St. Paul Invite.
