ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's and men's track & field teams put together several strong performances today—including setting a handful of stadium records—while competing the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday.
Kim Shabino set a facility record and school record with a winning time of 24.60 in the 200 meters. She also placed fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.56. Nikki Atwood also had a strong race in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 59.52 to finish in seventh.
Angela Prokosch put together a fourth place mark in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.40m, while teammate Meghan Nelson recorded a personal best toss of 11.58m in the shot put to place fifth.
Samantha McNeel sprinted to a personal best time of 15.98 in the 100 meter hurdles to record a third place finish.
On the men's side,
Austin LaFollette set a stadium record in the 400 meter hurdles crossing the line first at 54.19.
Zach Jones ran 50.37 in the 400 meters to place third, while teammate
Matt Konrad crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 50.66.
Chris Kveseth made his season debut in the 800 meters with a fourth place time of 1:56.91.
Hamilton Mateski tossed a personal best 47.62m in the javelin to earn a second place finish.
Alex Weis also earned runner-up accolades in the discus with a toss of 47.46m.
Southwest Minnesota State will have individuals competing next week at both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
