MARSHALL, Minn.- Southwest Minnesota State used a 16-0 run to begin the final frame and came up just short, nearly overcoming a 24-point fourth quarter deficit in a 70-68 loss to Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday night in the R/A Facility.
SMSU trailed by 24 points going into the final period and went 5 of 6 from the floor to begin the quarter while holding Concordia-St. Paul to 0 of 7 shooting.
The Mustangs cut the CSP lead to five with 56 seconds left after a three point play from
Caleigh Rodning and two Golden Bears' missed free throws, SMSU had the ball back trailing by just two with four seconds to play.

Akoi added a career-high 15 boards to go along with her career-high scoring night to notch her first ever double-double for SMSU.
Anna Schmitt and Lindsay Dorr led the Golden Bears in scoring with 18 points each while Dorr posted a double-double with 12 boards.
Southwest Minnesota State will now hit the road to take on MSU Moorhead on Wednesday night in the opening round of the 2018 NSIC/ Sanford Health Tournament.
