St. Paul, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State had four players honored by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference on Tuesday in its all-conference awards, released from the conference offices in St. Paul.
Devin Diedrich was named Freshman of the Year and honorable mention All-NSIC, while
Kasey Loeslie,
Sara Graf and
Sarah Quiram were all named first team All-NSIC.
Diedrich, a 6-foot freshman middle blocker from Braham, Minn., currently is third on the team in kills with 308 (2.85 per set) and second in hitting percentage at .299 (308k 87e 738a). She also has 85 total blocks, which also ranks second on the squad, to go with 51 digs and 12 service aces.
Loeslie, a 6-foot-1 senior middle blocker from Tracy, Minn., leads SMSU with 351 kills (3.28 per set), a .337 hitting percentage (351k 93e 765a) and 103 total blocks. She also has 47 digs and six service aces.
In conference matches only, Loeslie ranks sixth in the NSIC in hitting percentage at .339 (202-51-496) and ninth in kills per set (3.26).
Despite missing last season with an injury, Loeslie has 798 kills and a .308 hitting percentage (798k 227e 1849a) in her career to rank third all-time at SMSU in hitting percentage. Her 338 total blocks rank fourth all-time. She was named honorable mention All-NSIC in 2006.
Graf, a 5-foot-10 junior setter from Mount Pleasant, Iowa, has 1,177 set assists (11.00 per set) and 44 service aces to lead the team. She also has 89 kills, 214 digs and 46 total blocks. Her total set assists this season already are the 10th-most in a single season at Southwest and her assists/set average rank third all-time in a single season.
In conference matches only, Graf ranks tied for fifth in the NSIC in assists per set (11.25) and second in aces per set (0.44).
In just her third year at Southwest and second as a full-time starter, Graf is third all-time at SMSU in set assists with 3,304 and second in assists per set at 11.23. She was an honorable mention All-NSIC selection last season.
Quiram, a 5-foot-10 senior libero from LeSueur, Minn., leads Southwest with 506 digs and has a .952 serve receive percentage in 728 attempts. She also has 31 kills, after playing outside hitter early in the season, 54 set assists and 24 service aces.
In conference matches only, Quiram ranks fifth in the NSIC in digs per set (4.58).
Quiram is second all-time in digs at SMSU with 2,095. She was named honorable mention All-NSIC last fall.
SMSU is currently 24-5 overall and 13-4 in the NSIC. The Mustangs are ranked eighth in NCAA Division II in the latest Bison/AFCA Coaches Poll. They travel to Minnesota, Crookston tonight for a 6 p.m. match.
