Box Score

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.:
Senior Kasey Loeslie had 11 kills and four blocks to lead the No. 16 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-20) win over Mesa State (Colo.) at the Colorado-Colorado Springs Classic Friday afternoon.

SMSU moves to 4-1 on the season, while Mesa State drops to 2-3.

Loeslie seemed to be junior setter Sara Graf's favorite target, as the two controlled the hitting tempo for much of the match.  Graf had a match-high 33 assists.

Senior Laura Hegerle continued her team-leading hitting campaign, recording 11 kills to tie Loeslie for the team high.  Hergerle has led the Mustangs in kills every match this season.

Senior Sarah Quiram saw her first action of the season at libero, recording had a match-high 16 digs after entering the match in the second set at the position.  Quiram has seen her share of attack attempts from the hitter position this season prior to Friday afternoon's match.

Freshman Devin Diedrich had another solid outing, recording 10 kills on 17 attacks for a match-high .471 hitting percentage.

The  Mustangs were on upset watch for the match, as unranked Mesa State knocked off No. 19 Minnesota State, Mankato in its season opener last week.

SMSU held Mesa State to a .124 hitting percentage and outblocked the Mavericks 7-3.

The Mustangs play Colorado-Colorado Springs today at 5 p.m. MST.
