No. 16 SMSU Volleyball Defeats UCCS 3-1
Box Score

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.:
Kasey Loeslie had 15 kills and Sarah Quiram recorded 29 digs  to lead the No. 16 Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 14-25, 25-23) victory over host Colorado-Colorado Springs at the Colorado-Colorado Springs Classic Friday night.

The Mustangs improve to 5-1; the Mountain Lions drop to 3-3.

Loeslie's 15 kill output was her season high.

Quiram, playing her second match this season at libero, was one of three Mustangs in double digits in digs.  Junior Lauren Swain and senior Laura Hegerle had 11 and 12 digs, respectively.

Hergerle also had 12 kills to post a double-double for the match.  This was the first match of the season Hergle has not led the Mustangs in the kills column.

Junior setter Sara Graf had a match-high 37 assists in the victory.

The SMSU offensive attack was a balanced one.  Five Mustangs had at least five kills; five different SMSU hitters scored in the final eight points of the second set.

SMSU struggled in set three, allowing the Mountain Lions to go on a 10-1 run early and win the set.

The Mustangs trailed by as many as six midway through the final set, but SMSU capitalized on UCCS's poor hitting to take the set and the match.

The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow morning against No. 8 Minnesota Duluth at 10 a.m. MST.  The match is a non-conference contest.
