SMSU Finishes 2009 Ranked No. 16 in National Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team fell three spots and is ranked No. 16 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll released Monday. The Mustangs received 313 points in the poll, as voted on by Division II head coaches across the country.
NSIC neighbor and 2009 National Champion Concordia University, St. Paul received all 32 first-place votes and a total of 800 points to top the national poll. Five NSIC teams made the top 25.
The Mustangs were ranked every week during the 2009 season, peaking at No. 8 on Aug. 20 and 31.
SMSU finished the 2009 season 25-8 (15-5 NSIC) and made its sixth straight and seventh overall NCAA tournament appearance.
